So, yet another anti-gay conservative/republican (often interchangeable, but not necessarily so) has been found to be gay. Senator Roy Ashburn was arrested on a DUI (that’s great!) after leaving a popular gay bar in Sacramento, CA with “an unidentified man” in the car with him (LOL).
Interestingly, Ashburn, a married father of four, has a long history of anti-gay (read SELF-HATE) voting habits. In my mind, that this continues to happen, bolsters the claim that sexuality is not something that is chosen. It is innate, and trying to fight against who you actually are can be as difficult as trying to reverse the flow of your own blood.
Even more interesting is what’s written on Ashburn’s governmental website:
Roy Ashburn represents the 18th Senate District, the largest in California, encompassing Kern, Tulare, Inyo, and San Bernardino Counties.
In the tradition of Ronald Reagan, Senator Ashburn is a true reformer and a champion of openness, accountability, and bi-partisanship. Following 12 years as a Kern County Supervisor and six years in the State Assembly, Roy has brought to the State Senate his measured and balanced approach to problem solving. He has earned the respect of his fellow legislators as evidenced by his many key assignments. He serves on the powerful Joint Rules Committee; the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, which is responsible for holding state agencies accountable to the people; and the Little Hoover Commission, tasked with streamlining government. He also chairs the Select Committee on Defense and Aerospace in California, is Vice-Chair of the Public Employment and Retirement Committee, and serves on the Transportation and Housing and Revenue and Taxation Committees…Senator Ashburn has a degree in Public Administration from California State University, Bakersfield. He is the father of four daughters, Shelley, Shannon, Stacy and Suzannah, and a proud grandfather of two.
Wowsers! He really needs to be the agent of change that rewrites that bio!
AHAHAHAHAHAHGAHGHAGHAGHAGAGAGAHAHAHGAHGAGAAAAAAHAHAHA! (whew) If you’re gay, just be gay.
